You’ve finally reached that point in your life where you’re comfortable enough with your body to own it. Still, shopping for jeans if you’re curvy, can be challenging. Everything either doesn’t fit, hangs too loose, or leaves you with unsightly gaps between your waist and your jeans. You may have even tried on any number of pairs that claim to fit your shape, only to end up pulling them up all day long or every time you sit down.

1.) How are jeans typically sized?
When buying jeans online, it’s best to use your actual measurements, not what size you think you may be. Since brands often use several models during sample creation or even redesign their fit model every few years to reflect changes in their brand vision, these numbers are approximations. For jeans to feel comfortable and appear form-fitting, brands must make sure there is enough room within the fit, which means not all measurements are the same across different designers. That’s why it’s so important to know your size so you compare it to the sizing chart.
2.) What about stretch?
Some denim comes in non-stretch varieties, but if you prefer a little give to your jeans look for skinny styles which tend to include a material like elastane. You may want more or less stretch depending on your preference, but if possible, choose a pair that will fit you through a few wears so they break into your body shape perfectly! It’s worth spending that extra on something that feels like it was made just for you.

3.) What is reduced shrinkage good for?
Buying slightly larger than your typical size can reduce shrinkage when you wash your denim. Don’t worry if the pair you select is a bit too big – you’ll probably only shrink it by 2% or less. This makes it much easier to buy jeans online and allows you to save money on higher quality materials that may cost more upfront, but will last longer!

4.) How much do high-quality materials matter?
